In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Mini Morris Project was born. The free art kits were distributed to children across the London Borough of Waltham Forest and included a custom-made plaster model of designer William Morris. The information leaflet was an integral piece of each art kit, which explained to recipients the intention of the project, the intended activity of the art kit and a short biography about William Morris himself. It was important that the design of the leaflet carefully balance the legacy of William Morris’s iconic designs, alongside the art/craft nature of the kit. With the target audience in mind, I took inspiration from the Arts & Craft Movement, and expressed it through a hand-drawn, child-like illustrative approach.
